DAY OF ACTION: IN BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Volunteers rallied on a snowy afternoon on Boston’s City Hall Plaza to deliver a message to Senator Scott Brown: Let the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% expire.
Boston City Councillor Ayanna Pressley called on Senator Brown to put the middle class ahead of millionaires and billionaires.
“Let’s not push people off a cliff as we’re negotiating to prevent this fiscal cliff. We’re standing here in the cold today to make sure that no one is left in the cold.”
Hannah Gerhard depends on Social Security and Medicare. She shared her reasons for taking action.
“We need to let the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 2% so that the cost of running government isn’t unfairly shifted to the middle class and more economically vulnerable populations like senior citizens. Putting senior citizens and the middle class at risk to pay for tax cuts for the top 2% doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t help our economy and, frankly, it’s immoral to balance the budget on the backs of seniors and middle class families.”
We have to deliver this message to every member of Congress. Pick up the phone and call your Congressman today.
